Ian is an experienced open water swimming coach, who combines coaching duties with competing in events within the UK and overseas. His recent highlights include securing a Gold medal in Barbados 3k (Nov 2025) and bronze medal in the 60 – 64 years 3km National Championship (2024), top 3 finishes in the same age group in BEST Fest (Mallorca 2023), Rutland Water 4km (2022 & 2023). Ian also enjoys recreational swims at his local lake and when time permits the amazing array of swims in the Lake District. Ian has decided to continue into the winter this year for the first time to see why David has been doing cold dips for a few years!
David was a very successful junior rower and has cycled for much of his adult life. He started swimming regularly in 2021 and has since finished top five in many open water events both home and abroad. He is an accredited Open Water Lifeguard and Swim England Open Water Leader. He is also crazy enough to swim ‘skins’ once a week at the local lake throughout winter which he has persuaded Ian to join in with.
Claire, David and Ian meet and swim regularly together when not on camps and during this time, they coach each other, always looking for ways to improve their own swimming. They enjoy sharing Swim England, SwimMastery, Total immersion methodologies and experiences to combine into the Swimfinity way! The use of Swimfinity Swimset cues is crucial to maintaining a focus on technique and continual improvement.
