At last, the weather was kind, Chillswim did a great job of organising a Covid safe environment and we were able to have an amazing swim.
Organised events are fun, you meet a lot of likeminded people and the occasional celebrity pops up to swim with you too.
Here are a few highlights to give you an idea of how the day goes.

Equipment – Tow Float (compulsory with ChillSwim) Cap, timing chip, goggles, car sticker

The start, setting off in groups with the same coloured hat (Purple and Yellow in this one) You are meant to all give swim times to stay together as a group but there are so many things to consider that can change your time from one swim to the next! Most groups just spread out and its hard to stay as one group.

Having friends tracking your path online at home is one thing but, having someone tracking you from the hills around the lake is just amazing.

That is a long way to swim!

#Lookfortheduck Not all the buoys are big yellow ducks but this one is great to sight for on the last mile to the finish. Its also great to know the safety crews are along the full 7.5miles and never too far away from people who decide they have done enough. You never swim too far away from a kayak safety boat.

Seeing swimmers I have coached complete their challenges is great. This is Alex doing an excellent training swim for his solo channel event.

Kristina and Judith should be doing their Relay of the English channel later this year if the weather ever lets them!.

The all important medal!! As an Ex-competitive swimmer, I do love a medal and Chillswim do know how to do them! (Possibly my favourite)

Accommodation for the night before and after for most people is a tent! The swimfinity tour bus is a great bed for the night.

Nearly as exciting as the medal…..The Chillswim hoodie!

And Finally, having friends along for the ride who make lovely lemon cake for after! the end of a perfect day.
It doesn’t have to be 7.5 miles or an English channel distance. Events are available from 250m so if you fancy the challenge, get in touch for some top tips
